Look what's new!

Day two of Thanksgiving break and I have been b-u-s-y!!  (We won't even talk about the homework... oy!)

I have a couple of little new goodies in my TPT shop that I am excited to share with you!

First are some Short Vowel Word Sorts :)  It has sorts for each of the vowels!  I made this several years ago with index cards and markers and decided it was time to freshen it up and share it with all of you! :)  Click on the picture to learn more!

Another little thing I am SUPER excited about is the literacy activity pack that I made for The Mitten!  Do your kiddos fall in love with this book too?  I love the activities that I've included in this pack and will probably spend part of tomorrow printing and laminating!  Click on the cover to find out more about my Mitten pack!

Random-ness ahead.....

Y'all.  I had the biggest laugh today.  My best friend got her car stuck in her front yard.  Like... dug the tires in deep into the mud.  Granted, it has rained here in our parts for at least 5 days.  (BTW... I HATE the cold.  The cold AND wet.  YUCK!)  So she thought she would be smart and drive over to where they had some firewood stacked.  Bless it.  She was about half-way there before she realized it was not the smartest idea she's ever had.  We got a good kick out of it all since I had to go rescue her and take us to the grocery store.  (Praying the whole way MY car wouldn't get stuck in her driveway...) And then our laughter kinda left because her hubby was none too happy about it.  Needless to say... we are praying for lots of sunshine tomorrow and no more rain.  I think I told her that I was sorry for laughing.  Maybe.  At least we both agreed that there was never a dull moment in our worlds.

If there is anyone around visiting... I'd love to hear what you think about my new products.  Or if you have suggestions.  Or requests.  Or just want to say hello!  :)

Between working for my kiddos here in 304 and doing my own homework... this chick has been busy!  Just wanted to give a little heads up about a new product I hope to have up before Monday!

I am getting together my spelling homework for Unit 3 of the Texas Treasures reading program.  I am super excited about some new features to share that my team is pumped about (or at least I know they will be once they get their hands on this new stuff!)  My dear sweet teaching partner is telling me all the time that I need to put my spelling homework on TPT, so we shall see how it goes over.

I am going to sneak off to bed now.  I had no idea it was already time for a time change!  Surprise, surprise!  And I'm also excited about a photo shoot with my cousin tomorrow. She's 7 and all shades of a mess!  Can't wait to get her in front of the camera!  I'm even thinking of attempting one of those super cool glitter shots.  Hey hey!

Love to you all my teaching friends! <3

Just another Monday...

Busy day in room 304 today!

I'm not quite sure that Ms. Elli fully survived.
I wanted to share a few pictures from using the new math comparing numbers freebie that I posted up in the TPT shop last night.  The kids had a good time using it. :)

I used the "Magic Stick Picker" to pull out two names.  Purple bucket kids were the first number and green bucket kids were the second number.

Then we compared the numbers and decided if they were greater than or less than and sorted them on our handy pocket chart.

The kids had a great time using them!

Remember that you can pick up your own FREE copy of this great activity at {my little TPT shop} and use this with your own kiddos.  I told mine that they would see this again!  I will more than likely put it in a math bucket for them to use in small groups.  Yay!!

This is just a side note that I think is a wonderful idea!  I have to give credit to my partner teacher across the hall.  She came across this idea from another teacher friend of hers where you use Plexiglas to make life easier!  That's right folks... plexiglas!!  We have a math word problem that we go over each day at the end of our morning meeting.  The problems are written on a chart tablet and we write with dry erase on the sheet of plexiglas.  It comes right off!  AND... I can use my chart again next year and not have to re-write anything!  Talk about smart, people!!!

I hope that you all have a fantastic evening and a great tomorrow! :)

Busy :) And a new freebie!

Well.  I've been a busy lady these last four weeks.  Getting into the swing of things back with my children at school, staying busy trying to keep up with grad school requirements, and oh SO much more... I have been a little bit MIA.  Never fear... I'm here.  Lol!!!

I will just do a little personal shout-out... I am on track for an A in my first grad school class.  Praise the Lord!!  I still feel a little in over my head, but I'm so blessed to be doing so well so far.  Although... I'm tired to say the least.

A new little freebie is up in my TPT shop tonight.  :)  You can find it {here}!  It is a little comparing numbers freebie that I just whipped up (literally!!) and am about to laminate it and use it in the morning during math time!  This is a skill that at the moment we are still a little weak on... so "we about to fix that!!"  (yes... say that in a slightly ghetto/country voice.  Ha!!!!!)

I'm heading to laminate and find some ice-cold water.  Thanks for stopping by and checking out the new product!  PLEASE leave a little feedback if you download it :)  I'm still working on getting the shop off the ground, so to speak.

oy!

Between a photo shoot, painting my best friend's new home office, making wreaths, giving a wedding shower for my principal, getting things ready for "back to school"
and...
and...
and...
I am one tired sister over here!  OY!!!  I can't even think of it all.
I do know that luckily I am almost done setting up my classroom (the beloved 304) and will have to post some pictures.  I have given a little bit of a facelift to the room.  I am so ready to share!!

Today is my official last day of summer.  Kind of exciting and kind of sad.  I don't feel like I've stopped much. :/

I just put new new items up in my TPT shop... Yay!

This is a little freebie that I just posted!  This voice level chart has helped me in my classroom many times!

You can swing by and pick it up { here }

One B-I-G thing I am working on is a 1st grade language arts/grammar notebook.  I started using one mid-year last year and it worked like a charm!  My co-workers love it so much that they want me to make it into a whole packet that we can all use this year.  I plan on having a grammar section, a "practice" section, and then a section for vocabulary.  We are going to include a "word of the week" to help boost our kiddos' vocabulary and we thought a section where they could write the word, what it means, and draw a picture would be a great thing to include.  I will more than likely be happier than a bird with a french fry if it all comes together like it is in my head.  Wouldn't that be something?? lol!!

More things soon!

July already?!

I just uploaded the two latest installments of my curriculum spelling words.  Units 4 & 5 are up in my little TPT shop and are both freebies!

Why am I making spelling word cards?  Well, for the last 5 years our grade level has used a different spelling list/compilation for our firsties.  This year I have 2 teachers new to first grade, and so my partner and I decided that it would be a little more cohesive for them if we make the transition to the spelling words that go with our adoption.  (What kind of adventure follows directions? Mine so doesn't...)

Therefore... I have to re-make all of my spelling word cards for this new year, and I thought - why not make them cute?

As an aside, I use a small pocket chart that I got at Target (totally in the $1 spot) for my spelling words.  It hangs in my morning meeting area and we say-spell-tap our spelling words.  Now... tapping our spelling words (for lack of a better way to describe) is something that I have done since I was in student teaching.  That dear teacher did spelling word cheers.  I'm fat, so there's not a whole lot of jumping all about maintaining a little structure in my morning meeting, so we just "tap."  Anyway... for letters that reach to the head-line get a tap on our head.  Letters that stay between the tummy-line and foot-line get a pat on our shoulders.  Letters that extend beyond the foot-line get a pat on our laps.  This takes the kids about a week to get the hang of it, but I have them do it e-v-e-r-y day.  So - if our spelling word was July, as we say each letter we would tap: head-shoulders-head-lap.  I'm sure that is clear as mud, because I am so excellent at making things way more complicated than they really are.  If you continue to come here to visit... you will come to find that beyond true.  (I blame it on my GT brain... although my poor head is forked-up jello at this point.)

So, that's just a snippet.  It's already after midnight again... and this adventure guide is saying g'night! :)

Sunday, Sunday

So I've been busy today finishing up with Unit 3 of my spelling word cards.  They are... not my best friend.  BUT.... they are b-e-y-o-n-d cute and I am glad that I will have them all ready for the beginning of the year.  I just uploaded them to Teachers Pay Teachers in my new little store.  And - good news is... they are a freebie!

Check out my store by clicking below.

Units 1 - 3 are available now, and 4-6 are coming soon. :)

I will admit that I am still new to the whole "creating products" stage, but I am slowly getting some things spruced up and in the shop.  And the good thing is - the majority of my products have already been tested out by the "Adventure Kiddos" and have their approval.

Thanks for stopping by! :)  If you have any product requests, I would love to know what other teachers are needing to hope that I can somehow help!
